The
County Links on the left will keep you specifically in or near Greene County, in the Laurel Highlands of PA. We add new listings and links on a regular basis.
Greene County was created on February 9, 1796, from part of Washington County and named for General Nathanael Greene. Waynesburg, the county seat, named for Major General Anthony Wayne, was laid out in 1796, and incorporated as a borough on January 29, 1816.
Greene County is located in the southwestern corner of the State. Greene County's fall foliage has always been a major attraction, with the foliage at its peak in mid-October. Visit Victorian downtown Waynesburg, where you will find small-town America intact. You will discover this lovely town has a great atmosphere: one-way streets and large brick and stone houses built around the turn of the century. On High Street, you will find the Greene County Courthouse, a textbook example of Classic Revival beauty that shouldn't be missed.
Enlow Fork Natural Area is open to the public year-around and the annual Spring Wildflower Walk held there has the added benefits of guides. Warrior Trail, the "Interstate" of the past, is a hiking trail that passes through Greene County from east to west. It is well-marked with yellow dots on posts and trees.
The Covered Bridge Festival is held the third weekend of September each year to celebrate the beginning of the county's most beautiful season - Autumn!
